I jogged about three miles to a mechanic's shop to pick up my car. Along the way, the Proteus was strapped around my waist, containing maybe three pounds of stuff. And although the bag was bouncing as I took my strides, the Proteus was still comfortable and stable. Nothing quirkie came off. No funny noises were sounding off. No annoying hotspots were digging into my back.
In fact, the clips held in place the excess waist strap so it wouldn't flop around. Plus, the buckle and the waistband's design kept the strap as snug as when I began the jog. Then, I just realized the high functional value of the bag's size and its top-mounted handgrip: they both made using the Proteus easy. That epiphany came when I unbuckled the Proteus and walked the last couple of hundred yards toward my destination to cool down. As I walked, it was easy to hold the bag with one hand and grab things with the other. Finally, when it was time, the strap tucked neatly out of the way, morphing the butt pack into a tiny, gear-like bag.
So even under physical exertion the bag was still pleasant to have on. After it was done performing under stress, it converted neatly into an easy-to-carry bag. How clever is that?

This is a great smaller pack. You really can't go wrong with Maxpedition gear. Only issue I have is that the picture for the kahki version of this pack is not accurate. Amazon's picture of the pack is kahki with black zippers and buckles, the item recieved has kahki zippers and buckles. The quality is still awsome, but the picture is not totally accurate (for the kahki version, OD green is accurate).

This bag is awesome! It is a go anywhere, do anything, compact bag for all the essentials a person would ever need. I use it to carry my concealed weapon on a daily basis along with other emergency type items. You never know when you will need these things. And with the MOLLE on all sides you can literally attach anything you want. Overall, great heavy-duty bag!
