These speakers appear to have solid construction, and the Boston Acoustics brand garners fair reviews for the price, however my experience was very disappointing. I replaced the front factory Subaru paper-cone speakers with these. They were being powered by a couple-year-old Sony head unit with maybe 17 watts RMS. It may be that these require more power to produce adequate sound-quality, but I doubt it would make them shine. It has been a few months since I installed and demoed them in the car, but I remember them sounding worse than the factory speakers at any volume level I tried. Even my girlfriend knew something was very wrong and avoided listening to music in the car. The other problem I ran into was with the included hardware. The screws are made very cheaply. Even with the included bit and the clutch turned way down on the driver, I managed to strip the head of every screw. If I were you, I would save your money and choose a different brand.

I have these in my front doors of my accord, also have the 6x9 in the rear powered by a kicker 08ZX200.4 4-channel amp and they sound great. The highs are loud and crisp not distorted, the mids are superb aswell, and the lows/bass is tight punchy bass not the loud thundering bass. If you looking for that try somewhere else or maybe their subs, i use a rf p3 in the trunk for my bass. Overall excellent buy for the price, preformance, and ease of installation.

For Christmas, I finally got the 21st century stereo upgrade I hinted at for my '99 Honda CRV. It sounded great, but I could hear that the factory speakers were really holding it back. With a limited budget, I looked for some inexpensive speakers on the web. I have Boston Acoustics for my home system and have always really liked them, so I kind of locked-on to the Boston Acoustics S65RC's when I saw them. While other sources were asking $120-$140 a pair, I was able to replace ALL FOUR factory speakers for a bit less than that, including shipping, through amazon. The improvement in the sound was huge. Like the difference between that indie rock band across the street practicing with the garage door open or with it closed - but in a good way. {';'}
I don't know from super-hi-end audio gear, but I do have ears and these speakers have made long-distance driving to gigs a joy.
(BTW - They fit my CRV fine, BUT, I did have to drill some new holes for screws. Not a biggie)
